When 1914 began
He was working on the land
With his mom and dad
He left behind his girl,
Joined up to see the world
And make his mother sad
He made it through the war Came back to town
To help his father work the fields
And rebuild his life somehow
And everybody called him "The Anzac"
That's still what they call him now

He set his mind to stay
When his father passed away
And the rivers ran dry
He said I'll take care of you mom
I've fought before and won
And we can win this fight
And all alone he'd work all day until he dropped
Until the place got back to best he didn't stop
There were time's he thought he'd been forgotten
But every night at 6 o'clock
There he'd stand for that man they called "The Anzac"
And those who gave their lives for us__

For fighting for the land he loved

At the crack of dawn we stand as one
For all our fallen friends

Quando 1914 começou
Ele trabalhava na terra
Com sua mãe e pai
Deixou sua garota pra trás,
Se alistou pra ver o mundo
E deixar sua mãe triste
Ele sobreviveu à guerra
Voltando pra cidade
Pra ajudar seu pai a trabalhar nos campos
E reconstruir sua vida de algum jeito
E todo mundo o chamava de "O Anzac"
É assim que o chamam até hoje

Ele decidiu ficar
Quando seu pai faleceu
E os rios secaram
Ele disse: "Vou cuidar de você, mãe
Eu já lutei antes e venci
E podemos vencer essa luta"
E sozinho ele trabalhava o dia todo até cair
Até o lugar voltar ao melhor, ele não parou
Houve momentos em que pensou que tinha sido esquecido
Mas toda noite às 6 horas
Lá estava ele por aquele homem que chamavam de "O Anzac"
E aqueles que deram suas vidas por nós__
