Entre Os Dois

Alabama

Between The Two Of Them

They married back in '32
They were young and love was new
And every day the feeling grew
Between the two of them
When work grew scarce and times got bad
The hope would chase away the sad
And hope was sometimes all they had
Between the two of them

The 40's came and the 50's went
And the mortgage replaced the rent
They made the most of each day spent
Between the two of them
Their children all turned out just fine
So he retired in '69
And left with oh so little time
Between the two of them

Today I brave the graveyard rain
And placed a rose between their names
Now that's the most that ever came
Between the two of them

And though I miss them oh so much
His crooked smile her gentle touch
And the pleasure of just growing up
Between the two of them

Entre Os Dois

Eles se casaram em 32
Eram jovens e o amor era novo
E a cada dia o sentimento crescia
Entre os dois
Quando o trabalho escasseou e os tempos ficaram difíceis
A esperança afastava a tristeza
E a esperança era às vezes tudo que tinham
Entre os dois

Os anos 40 chegaram e os 50 se foram
E a hipoteca substituiu o aluguel
Eles aproveitaram ao máximo cada dia vivido
Entre os dois
Os filhos deles cresceram bem
Então ele se aposentou em 69
E saiu com tão pouco tempo
Entre os dois

Hoje enfrento a chuva do cemitério
E coloquei uma rosa entre os nomes deles
Agora isso é o máximo que já aconteceu
Entre os dois

E embora eu sinta tanto a falta deles
O sorriso torto dele, o toque suave dela
E o prazer de simplesmente crescer
Entre os dois
