Ingrid Against the Reptilian Brood

Astrikos Katoikos

Along the vertebrae of a necrotic sky
The saurian brood commands its citadel
Ingrid advances, wounded at the side
Her spearhead blazing through the tempest's swell

Within the crypts, each scale retains its lore
Each pupil seals a private catacomb
A million ages festered there before
Beneath condemned stars in celestial gloom

From charnel vaults the lacertilian breed
Emerges, jaws deformed by teratosis
Alkaline ichor seeps from scaly hide
Their eyes bear millennia of necrosis

Warrior Ingrid, spear against the scale
Steel against the reptile
Let their scaled legions assail
Their elder blood lies barren, spent and sterile

A monster charges, ingrid's spearhead rends
The keratinous plates along its hide
Another crawling monstrosity descends
Through shattered stelae scattered far and wide

There lie skulls branded deep with inscriptions
Of suns extinct before this sphere was born
There writhe tongues intoning maledictions
Bequeathed by some primordial age forlorn

Ingrid receives the onslaught of their ranks
Her blood darkens the leather at her breast
Encircled by the saurian phalanx
She drives ahead, implacable, possessed

Her spearhead cleaves the sauriform flesh
The creature convulses in its throes
Beyond its carcass something malformed crawls
From sepulchers where nameless horror grows

Ingrid, ingrid, spear against the scale
Steel against the reptile
Let their scaled legions assail
Their elder blood lies barren, spent and sterile

Inside the temple, a reptilian priest
Unfolds its tripartite mandible
Within its eye, an arcane heaven seethes
A relic of primordial corruption

Ingrid beholds the monstrous progeny
Her teeth clenched hard against the baleful glare
She charges through that vile enormity
Spawned from an age no mortal mind could bear

And when the final creature meets its fall
The ancient stone preserves the liturgy
Deep in the nether vaults, the darkness heaves
The war has merely changed its dynasty
