The calendar year is an imperial narrative.
The seven-day week is an imperial infliction.
Circannual holidays are imperial flag-posts.
Mechanical time is an imperial installation.
The merchant workday is an imperial offering.
Greenwich MeanTime is an imperial sanction.
The looming weight, uniformly imposed;
as albatross and as anchor.
The new time-imperialists will get their
way with those left: the rural, the feral, the frail.
Feed them a thread, that leads to a string.
They'll follow the string, until it leads to a rope,
and from that rope every vestige of what was will be hung by the neck.

O ano no calendário é uma narrativa imperial.
A semana de sete dias é uma imposição imperial.
Os feriados anuais são marcos imperiais.
O tempo mecânico é uma instalação imperial.
O dia de trabalho do comerciante é uma oferta imperial.
O Horário de Greenwich é uma sanção imperial.
O peso iminente, imposto de forma uniforme;
como um albatroz e como uma âncora.
Os novos imperialistas do tempo vão conseguir o que querem
com os que ficaram: os rurais, os selvagens, os frágeis.
Dê a eles um fio, que leva a uma corda.
Eles seguirão a corda, até que leve a uma corda,
e dessa corda, cada vestígio do que foi será enforcado.
