God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
God rest ye, merry gentlemen, let nothing you dismay,
Remember Christ our Savior was born on Christmas Day;
To save us all from Satan's power when we were gone astray.
O tidings of comfort and joy, comfort and joy;
O tidings of comfort and joy
From God our heav'nly Father a blessed angel came;
And unto certain shepherds brought tidings of the same;
How that in Bethlehem was born the son of God by name.
"Fear not, then," said the angel, "Let nothing you afright
This day is born a Savior of a pure Virgin bright,
To free all those who trust in Him from Satan's power and might."
The shepherds at those tidings rejoiced much in mind,
And left their flocks a-feeding in tempest, storm and wind,
And went to Bethl'em straightaway this blessed Babe to find.
But when to Bethlehem they came whereat this Infant lay,
They found Him in a manger where oxen feed on hay;
His mother Mary kneeling unto the Lord did pray.
Now to the Lord sing praises all you within this place,
And with true love and brotherhood each other now embrace;
This holy tide of Christmas all others doth deface.
God bless the ruler of this house, and send him long to reign,
And many a merry Christmas may live to see again;
Among your friends and kindred that live both far and near--
That God send you a happy new year, happy new year,
And God send you a happy new year.
Deus Abençoe, Nobres Senhores
Deus abençoe, nobres senhores, não deixem nada os desanimar,
Lembrem-se que Cristo, nosso Salvador, nasceu no Dia de Natal;
Para nos salvar do poder de Satanás quando nos perdemos pelo caminho.
Ó notícias de conforto e alegria, conforto e alegria;
Ó notícias de conforto e alegria.
De Deus, nosso Pai celestial, um anjo abençoado veio;
E a certos pastores trouxe notícias do mesmo;
Como que em Belém nasceu o Filho de Deus, por nome.
"Não temam, então," disse o anjo, "Não deixem nada os assustar;
Hoje nasceu um Salvador de uma Virgem pura e brilhante,
Para libertar todos aqueles que confiam Nele do poder e força de Satanás."
Os pastores, ao ouvirem essas notícias, se alegraram muito;
E deixaram seus rebanhos pastando em tempestade, vento e chuva,
E foram a Belém imediatamente para encontrar esse Bebê abençoado.
Mas quando chegaram a Belém, onde o Infante estava deitado,
Encontraram-no em uma manjedoura onde os bois se alimentam de feno;
Sua mãe Maria, de joelhos, ao Senhor estava a orar.
Agora, ao Senhor cantem louvores todos vocês que estão neste lugar,
E com verdadeiro amor e fraternidade agora se abracem;
Este tempo sagrado de Natal ofusca todos os outros.
Deus abençoe o governante desta casa, e que ele reine por muito tempo,
E que muitos Natais alegres possa viver para ver novamente;
Entre seus amigos e parentes que vivem tanto longe quanto perto--
Que Deus lhes envie um feliz ano novo, feliz ano novo,
E que Deus lhes envie um feliz ano novo.
