Maybe the voice of the spirit

Peaceful or disorderly

Maybe you and he will not agree

But you need him to show you new ways to see

Don't let the system fool you

All it wants to do is rule you

Pay attention to the poet

You need him and you know it

Put him up against the wall

Shoot him up with pentothal

Shoot him up with lead

You won't call back what's been said

Put him in the ground

But one day you'll look around

There'll be a face you don't know

Voicing thoughts you've heard before

Talvez o poeta seja gay

Talvez o poeta esteja chapado

Mas ele não vai ficar escondido

Talvez a voz do espírito

Nesse caso, é melhor você ouvir

Talvez ele seja uma mulher

Que pode tocar você onde é humano

Homem, mulher, escravo ou livre

Pacífico ou desordeiro

Talvez você e ele não concordem

Mas você precisa dele pra te mostrar novas formas de ver

Não deixe o sistema te enganar

Tudo que ele quer é te controlar

Preste atenção no poeta

Você precisa dele e sabe disso

Coloque-o contra a parede

Dê uma injeção de pentotal

Dê uma injeção de chumbo

Você não vai recuperar o que foi dito

Coloque-o no chão

Mas um dia você vai olhar ao redor

Haverá um rosto que você não conhece

Expressando pensamentos que você já ouviu antes
