I Love This Town
we don't have a big supermarket just a mom and pop a&p
a ten man volunteer fire department, farmer's bank and guarantee
i sometimes drive to the city just to see what's going on
if for nothing else to remind myself where i belong

ol man gordy's got a low back forty where the railroad carves it in two
sparks off the tracks in a dry july
torched his crop and a barn clean through
but the bank made good on his payments til the railroad settled up
and we all pitched in cause through thick or thin
he's one of us

Eu Amo Esta Cidade
não temos um grande supermercado, só um mercadinho da família
um corpo de bombeiros voluntário de dez homens, banco do fazendeiro e garantia
às vezes eu dirijo até a cidade só pra ver o que tá rolando
se não for por nada, pra me lembrar de onde eu pertenço

o velho Gordy tem um terreno baixo onde a ferrovia corta em dois
faíscas dos trilhos em um julho seco
queimou sua colheita e o celeiro inteiro
mas o banco honrou os pagamentos até a ferrovia se acertar
e todos nós ajudamos porque na alegria ou na tristeza
ele é um de nós
