The Face Of God

Draconian

I saw the face of God
And it was weeping
The spirit of man
Fitfully sleeping

To imagine what's true
With images
With cutting nightmares
Cringing while sleeping
In wreckage
Slithering

By sea, come forth
Through dark ocean eyes
And rivers' flooding out
Petrified and dreaming

Encircling the grace
And the face of God
Is drowned by weeping
His blood now ebon
Dripping

I saw the fate of man
And I was screaming
I saw the face of God
It was weeping

This bewildered gaze
With a futile plight
Of some glorious Sun
Never to rise again

Confusion, come forth!
Be my epitaph!
With each day of creation
Walking backwards
Into the ruins of cold light

And divine providence

God
Into absolution: Void!
You're flooding this tear-carved trail
By mindless rumination
It's something you've always done

A supernova, there
Stillborn, here
Pay heed, dearest friend!
I won't drag you down
Into darker waters
(Into darker waters)
I promise

This cavern's like a veil
Of a life thwarted and foiled
Unrealized in my sobriety

And you would
Cross oceans of anxiety
And bleed generously
To set me free

Murdering your dread

Life is for the living
So don't waste it on me
For I saw the face of God
And it was weeping
