THE SAME BLUE SKY

Elisamar Noga

The sky grows heavy with the sound of war
And hope feels smaller than it did before

When thunder falls from burning skies
It steals the light from children's eyes
The world stands still, yet hearts keep breaking
While distant cities start to shake
Somewhere a prayer dissolves in fear
And silence screams that war is near

We all have someone waiting home
A voice, a touch, a place we know
But war forgets what love remembers
And turns warm days to cold Decembers

When war begins the whole world cries
A thousand dreams fall from the skies
Every child learns fear too soon
Underneath a shattered Moon
Every mother holds her breath
Listening close for signs of death
When the guns drown out the light
The world itself is dressed in white

A father walks with trembling hands
A photograph of love he plans
To hold again when peace returns
But war is cruel and slowly burns

When war begins the whole world cries
A thousand dreams fall from the skies
Every child learns fear too soon
Underneath a shattered Moon
Every mother holds her breath
Listening close for signs of death
When the guns drown out the light
The world itself is dressed in white

We share the same uncertain breath
The fragile thread of life and death
The same small hope, the same blue sky
The same deep fear of last goodbye
Yet peace is just an open hand
Still harder than a war to end

When war begins the whole world cries
And every heart can hear the sound
Of hope that tries to rise again
From broken dreams upon the ground
Until one day our hands will meet
And peace will finally be found

Still the same blue sky
Peace is just an open hand
Peace will finally be found
