I BELIEVE

Erin LeCount

I believe
I believe
I believe
I believe

I'm on the cusp
I'm a star sign, I'm an agnostic
I'm on the cynic side
When it comes to God, I cannot decide
Another piece of me compartmentalized
I read the magazine personality quiz
I know who I am, I sell it on the internet
I don't give a shit what you people think
But I'm making sure you're aware of it

I'm living in a secular age
Looking for someone to blame
Looking for someone to love me
To save or be saved
And so this year I abstained in almost every way
I could've fallen off of my head, I didn't eat for days
I couldn't satiate, this hunger I can't contain
I had my body bathed in holy water down the drain

But I believe even though
Of a vacancy, I'm noting things
Where info's for me
And medicine is a funny thing
Cause the dopamine is synthetic again
When I call a friend, we don't mention it
Discussing the weather while the world goes under it
But it's temporary, I call it discipline
I'm sober, I'm celibate, and God still won't let me in

I'm living in a secular age
Looking for someone to blame
Looking for someone to love me
To save or be saved
And so this year I abstained in almost every way
I could've fallen off of my head, I didn't eat for days
I couldn't satiate, this hunger I can't contain
You self-inflict the pain, but guilt won't make you clean again

But I believe even though
I believe in you and me, God, I believe
In the machines, I heard you're looking for a savior
Honey, put your faith in me
Wait for God to intervene, say it's just what it is
Live it all, be the eclipse, solar system's volatile

But it's the future, it just is
It's the future, it just is
