Familiar

Fortune Teller

I no longer hear your battle cry
The whispers on the wind have all but died
Your shadow's gone from where you used to stand
I look for you across the borderland

Broken remnants of your heart divided
Blackened pieces where two collided
If it can be remade, then you can make it sound
If I exist at all I'll only tear you down

The lesson that I learnt in life
To never trust or fall in line
When all has fallen out of sight
We lose the fight

Our alliance now remiss
Everything we've done has come to this
Thought and memory fade to grey
When you're done
I will fly away

A familiar locked in empty rooms
A broken creature bound to what you choose
A soul that's tied to broken solitude
But it was never you

You hide your truth behind the false disguises
You play the victim when the truth arises
If there is something left for us to cling to
Do we rebuild our walls or are we breaking through?

A lesson that I learned from life
I always wait too long to fly
When everything comes crashing down
But makes no sound

Stepping out the dark again
Letting go of memories no longer in my way
