This Endris Night
This endris night I saw a sight,
A star bright as day;
And ever amoung, a maiden sung:
"Lullay, by by lullay".
This lovely lady sat and sung,
And to her child did say:
"My son, my brother, father dear,
Why liest thou thus in hay?"
The child then spake in his talking,
And to his mother said,
"Yea, I am known as Heaven's king
In crib though I be laid
"For angels bright down to me alight:
Thou knowest 'tis [true to say];
And for that sight thou may'st delight
And sing 'By by lullay'."
"Yet, sweet son, since thou art a king,
Why are thou laid in stall?
Why dost not order thy bedding
In some great kinges hall?
"Methinks 'tis right that king or knight
Should lie in good array;
And them amoung it be not wrong
To sing 'By by lullay'."
"Mary Mother, I am child
Though I be laid in stall;
For lords and dukes shall worship me
And so shall kinges all.
"So in they arm thou hold me warm,
And keep me night and day;
And if I weep and may no sleep
Then sing 'By by lullay'."
Esta noite Endris
Esta noite Endris eu vi uma visão,
A estrela brilhante como o dia;
E sempre amoung, uma donzela sung:
"Lullay, por pelo lullay".
Esta linda senhora sentou-se e cantado,
E seu filho disse:
"Meu filho, meu irmão, meu pai,
Por que te deitares, assim, em feno? "
A criança, em seguida, falou em sua fala,
E a sua mãe disse:
"Sim, eu sou conhecido como o rei do Céu
No berço embora eu ser estabelecidas
"Porque os anjos luminosos até me saia:
Tu sabes tis '[verdadeiro dizer];
E para que a visão tu may'st prazer
E cantar 'por pelo lullay ".
"No entanto, querido filho, pois tu és um rei,
Por que tu colocou na tenda?
Por que não te pedir a tua cama
Em alguns grande salão kinges?
Tis "Parece-me que 'direito que o rei ou cavaleiro
Deverá ser, em boa variedade;
E eles amoung ele não ser errado
Para cantar 'por pelo lullay'. "
"Maria, Mãe, eu sou criança
Apesar de eu ser colocado na tenda;
Para senhores e príncipes devem me adorar
E assim será kinges todos.
"Assim, em que o braço tu manter-me quente,
E manter-me dia e noite;
E se eu chorar e não podem dormir
Então cantar 'por pelo lullay ".
