An old cowboy went riding out one dark and windy day
upon a ridge he rested as he went along his way
when all at once a mighty herd of red eyed cows he saw
ploughin' thru the ragged skies and up the cloudy trawl
Their brands were still on fire and their hooves were made of steel
their horns were black and shiny and their hot breath he could feel
a bolt of fear went thru him as they thundered thru the sky
for he saw the riders coming hard and he heard their mournful cry

Their faces gaunt, their eyes were blurred, their shirts all soaked with sweat
he's ridin' hard to catch that herd, but he ain't caught 'em yet
'cause they've got to ride forever on that range up in the sky
on horses snortin' fire, as they ride on hear their cries
As the riders loped on by him, he heard one call his name
if you wanna save your soul from hell a'ridin' on our range

Um velho cowboy saiu pra andar num dia escuro e ventoso
numa elevação ele descansou enquanto seguia seu caminho
quando de repente avistou um poderoso rebanho de vacas de olhos vermelhos
abrindo caminho pelo céu tempestuoso e pela nuvem que se arrastava
As marcas ainda estavam em chamas e suas patas eram de aço
suas cabeças eram pretas e brilhantes e seu bafo quente ele podia sentir
e um choque de medo passou por ele enquanto trovejava pelo céu
pois ele viu os cavaleiros se aproximando rápido e ouviu seu lamento

Seus rostos magros, seus olhos embaçados, suas camisas todas encharcadas de suor
ele está cavalgando forte pra pegar aquele rebanho, mas ainda não os alcançou
porque eles têm que cavalgar pra sempre naquela extensão lá no céu
em cavalos que soltam fogo, enquanto ouvem seus gritos
Enquanto os cavaleiros passavam por ele, ouviu um chamar seu nome
se você quer salvar sua alma do inferno cavalgando em nosso campo
então cowboy, mude seus caminhos hoje ou com a gente você vai andar
tentando pegar o rebanho do diabo através desses céus sem fim
