Mermaid's Lullaby

Jane and The Rain

On a beach
Where the waves they are kind
Walks a young man with much on his mind
In the darkness alight
He is something that might be a song
Or the voice of a woman

So he stops for a moment or two
Looking seaward and wondering who
Could be out on this night
And pray what is their plight
When a voice reaches over the waves

See the soul
How it shines on my skin
As I beckon you in
My tears stain the sea
My heart aches for thee
Won't you come?
Let the dancing begin

Oh, the shimmering green of the tail
How it sits next to skin
Oh, so pale
The Moon it sends diamonds
To light up her hair
Sending shimmer across the waves

And he wants her so bad
He is bewitched and quite taken over
Surely he might hold her just for one night
While her song wraps them up in its arms

See the soul
How it shines on my skin
As I beckon you in
My tears stain the sea
My heart aches for thee
Won't you come?
Let the dancing begin

For a moment the mist leaves his eyes
And he runs from the beach as she cries out
I'll send you a wave and for you I will save
All the love that a poor girl can give

See the soul
How it shines on my skin
As I beckon you in
My tears stain the sea
My heart aches for thee
Won't you come?
Let the dancing begin

Lullaby
Lullaby
Oh, lullaby
