a note we wrote the other day
to any mice who pass this way
on crumed and sugared countertop:
"we must insist
your traffic STOP."
in their defense, they don't refuse
but nonetheless we've come to use
snapping traps and poison beans
(far less diplomatic means)

para qualquer rato que passar por aqui
na bancada cheia de migalhas e açúcar:

em defesa deles, eles não se negam
mas, mesmo assim, começamos a usar
armadilhas que estalam e feijões envenenados
(métodos bem menos diplomáticos)
