A great and mighty wonder
Our Christmas festal brings:
On earth a lowly infant,
Behold the King of kings!
The Word is made incarnate,
Descending from on high;
And cherubim sing anthems
To shepherds from the sky.
And we with them, triumphant,
Repeat the hymn again:
"To God on high be glory,
And peace on earth to men!"
While thus they sing your Monarch,
Those bright angelic bands,
Rejoice, ye vales and mountains!
Ye oceans, clap your hands!
Since all He comes to ransom,
By all be He adored;
The Infant born in Bethlehem,
The Savior and the Lord!
And idol forms shall perish,
And error shall decay,
And Christ shall wield His scepter,
Our Lord and God for aye

Uma maravilha grande e poderoso
Nosso Natal festivo traz:
Sobre a terra uma criança humilde,
Eis que o Rei dos reis!
A Palavra se encarnou,
Descendo do alto;
E querubins cantar hinos
Aos pastores do céu.
E nós com eles, triunfante,
Repita o hino novamente:
"Para Deus na glória seja elevada,
E paz na terra aos homens! "
Enquanto assim eles cantam o seu monarca,
Essas bandas brilhantes angelical,
Alegrai-vos, vós vales e montanhas!
Oceanos Ye, bata palmas!
Uma vez que tudo o que Ele vem ao resgate,
Por todos ser Adorava;
O Menino nascido em Belém,
O Salvador e Senhor!
E formas ídolo perecerá,
E erro deve decadência,
E Cristo deve exercer seu cetro,
Nosso Senhor e Deus por aye
