the bosses lay slain

and each of the workers decided to ten-fold their pay

and they saw in the mirror the sun had been shot down in flames

and nobody minded the hole in the sky or the rain

but it doesn't really matter when the judgements are said

'cos we all take our chances to find out romance is in some others bed

and you might burn your fingers hock your best rings for those

who'd have you standing naked then publicly auction the use of a hose

all the children were laughing their faces in half at the pain

of the girl who loved talking to walls and jumping at trains

and the words that ring true in the playground of fools will remain

and nobody minded the hole in the sky or the rain

but it doesn't really matter when the rights have been read

'cos we all take our chances to glance at the wife in the opposite bed

and I bet Nero and Pilate could easily explain

how policemen & pirates get stoned in glass houses just finding their way.

e cada um dos trabalhadores decidiu aumentar seu salário em dez vezes

e eles viram no espelho que o sol tinha sido abatido em chamas

e ninguém se importou com o buraco no céu ou com a chuva

mas não importa muito quando os julgamentos são feitos

porque todos nós arriscamos para descobrir que o romance está na cama de outro

e você pode queimar seus dedos, penhorar suas melhores joias por aqueles

que te deixariam pelado e depois leiloariam publicamente o uso de uma mangueira

todas as crianças estavam rindo, suas caras cortadas pela dor

da garota que adorava conversar com paredes e pular na frente de trens

e as palavras que soam verdadeiras no playground dos tolos vão permanecer

e ninguém se importou com o buraco no céu ou com a chuva

mas não importa muito quando os direitos foram lidos

porque todos nós arriscamos para dar uma olhada na esposa na cama oposta

e eu aposto que Nero e Pilatos poderiam facilmente explicar

como policiais e piratas ficam chapados em casas de vidro apenas tentando encontrar seu caminho.
