An old cowpoke went out on a dark and windy day.
Upon a ridge he rested as he went along his way.
When all at once a mighty herd of red-eyed cows he
saw
A-plowing through the ragged sky and up a cloudy
draw.
Their brands were still on fire and
their hooves were made of steel.
Their horns wer black and shining
and their hot breath he could feel.
A bolt of fear went through him
as they thundered through the sky,
For he saw the riders coming hard
and he heard their mournful cry.

Their faces gaunt their eyes were blurred
and shirts all soaked with sweat.
They're riding hard to catch that head

Num morro ele descansou enquanto seguia seu caminho.
Quando de repente, um poderoso rebanho de vacas de olhos vermelhos ele
viu
Arando pelo céu rasgado e subindo uma nuvem.
As marcas ainda estavam em chamas e
suas patas eram de aço.
Suas cabeças eram negras e brilhantes
e seu hálito quente ele podia sentir.
Um choque de medo passou por ele
quando trovejaram pelo céu,
Pois ele viu os cavaleiros vindo com força
e ouviu seu lamento.

e camisas todas encharcadas de suor.
