A Look Behind the Curtain
The Life of A Showgirl, the idea of doing that was just, it was that this tour bled into everything I was doing
And I was on this tour when I was making this record, and I'd be doing three shows and then fly to Sweden and record for three days
Take one day off, do three more shows, and that was like the thing that energized me in the second half of that tour
Because the tour had been going on so long, it was so physically exhaustive, I needed something to keep my mind sparking
Like that was actually what made me so, like, it fueled me for the for the European leg of the tour
Was, was getting done with a show hopping on a planeand going and writing new songs
And I think that, I think that one of the sort of ideas I had going into this was that
I was winding down this tour and about ready to wrap up this tour, that was the proudest thing I'd ever done
I've never been more proud of, of anything than I am The Eras Tour
And I just thought: I want to make an album that I'm that proud of, and that's what, um, was the catalyst for this record
And calling up Max and saying: Do you guys want to do this? Like, I'll come to you, I'll make this easy
Um, and I think that the The Life of A Showgirl as a concept has to do with the, the fact that I was like
I just kind of realized I've been doing this for twenty years, and I love it so much that it doesn't faze me how hard it can be at times
I think that the whole thing of being someone who puts yourself out there
And puts yourself up there on a stage for people to like throw tomatoes at or cheer for
Is maybe something more people can relate to now that everybody has feedback all the time
Like even like people in like junior high feel like they got canceled because two people didn't like their outfit
We are all on this sort of pedestal now because of social media, anybody who chooses to engage with that, which is most people
I think a lot of people are feeling more like there's a performative side to their life that they have to
They have to balance, manage, figure out the ways around those complicated feelings
And ultimately, I'm really proud of doing what we did on The Eras Tour
It was really challenging and really fulfilling, and lots of things all at once
And I just wanted to give people a look behind the curtain and show them what was going on creatively in my mind at the time
Um Olhar Atrás da Cortina
A Vida de Uma Showgirl, a ideia de fazer isso era só, era que essa turnê se misturou com tudo que eu estava fazendo
E eu estava nessa turnê enquanto gravava esse disco, e eu fazia três shows e depois voava para a Suécia e gravava por três dias
Tirava um dia de folga, fazia mais três shows, e isso era o que me energizava na segunda metade daquela turnê
Porque a turnê estava rolando há tanto tempo, era tão fisicamente exaustiva, eu precisava de algo para manter minha mente ativa
Como isso era, na verdade, o que me deixou tão, tipo, me impulsionou para a parte europeia da turnê
Era, era terminar um show, pegar um avião e ir compor novas músicas
E eu acho que, eu acho que uma das ideias que eu tinha ao entrar nisso era que
Eu estava encerrando essa turnê e prestes a finalizá-la, isso foi a coisa mais orgulhosa que eu já fiz
Nunca estive tão orgulhosa de, de nada como estou do The Eras Tour
E eu só pensei: eu quero fazer um álbum do qual eu esteja tão orgulhosa, e isso foi, hum, o que foi o catalisador para esse disco
E ligar para o Max e dizer: Vocês querem fazer isso? Tipo, eu vou até vocês, vou facilitar isso
Hum, e eu acho que A Vida de Uma Showgirl como conceito tem a ver com o fato de que eu percebi
Eu meio que percebi que estou fazendo isso há vinte anos, e eu amo tanto que não me incomoda o quão difícil pode ser às vezes
Eu acho que toda essa coisa de ser alguém que se expõe
E se coloca em um palco para as pessoas jogarem tomates ou torcerem
É talvez algo que mais pessoas possam se identificar agora que todo mundo tem feedback o tempo todo
Tipo, até mesmo pessoas do ensino fundamental sentem que foram canceladas porque duas pessoas não gostaram da roupa delas
Estamos todos nesse tipo de pedestal agora por causa das redes sociais, qualquer um que escolha se envolver com isso, que é a maioria das pessoas
Eu acho que muitas pessoas estão sentindo mais que há um lado performático em suas vidas que elas têm que
Elas têm que equilibrar, gerenciar, descobrir maneiras de lidar com esses sentimentos complicados
E, no final das contas, estou realmente orgulhosa do que fizemos no The Eras Tour
Foi realmente desafiador e muito gratificante, e muitas coisas ao mesmo tempo
E eu só queria dar às pessoas um olhar atrás da cortina e mostrar o que estava acontecendo criativamente na minha mente na época
