He was beaten, mocked, and tortured
Led to the slaughter, He said not a word
As the people cried: Crucify Him
Their hands have shed an innocent's blood

Betrayed by His closest follower
Who willingly handed over the Son
Sweating His blood as He prayed
Father, not Mine, but Thy will be done

The murderer was set free
As He was led to be crucified
The Savior rejected by His own
The truth they clearly denied

Led away like a common thief
The people's hearts were void and null
Made a spectacle for all to see
At Golgotha, the place of the skull

Numbered with the transgressors
Naked He hung on the cross
It is finished
This was the son of God

Darkness turns to victory
As He cried out in final breath
Through dying, sin is defeated
He holds the keys to hell and death

Led away like a common thief

Descending into hell
This is what He died for
Jesus Christ conquered death
The grave holds Him no more
