Cycle of Grief

Straight shock to the system
Shook to the core
Interrogation of my mind
Could I have done more?

Stepped out of my way
To go the extra mile
I can't embrace this change or the force of fate
Frozen over wishing I could rewind time

Rock bottom
Spiralling down
Dropped way too deep
The emptiness weighs a ton
The world keeps turning
But it’s upside down for me

Out of the blue
No warning sign of the pain that was due
An open wound left on my life
That I can’t revive
If time heals
Why do I still ask why

Its eating me alive
Searching for answers that I know I won’t find
Choked up
Harder to swallow the guilt than the pride

Living in hindsight, I'm full of regret
Chasing what once was
And what will never be again
Swinging as hard as I can
I can’t connect

Trying to rebuild
Using bricks made of sand
How can I reconnect
With my head in my hands?
Time ain’t healing
I ain’t got an eternity
Weighed down by grief, I can’t take this reality
