Portanto espero que não demore muito até queTherefore I hope it won't be long before
Com sua matéria ela pereça cada vez mais!With matter it shall perish evermore!

Fausto: "Então, ainda busco a força, a razão que governa o fluxo da vida, e não apenas sua aparência exterior."Faust: "so, still I seek the force, the reason governing life's flow, and not just its external show."
Mefistófeles: "A força que governa? A razão? Certas coisas não podem ser saibas; Estão fora do seu alcance mesmo quando expostas."Mephistopheles: "the governing force? She reason? some things cannot be known; they are beyond your reach even when shown."
Fausto: "Por que seria assim?"Faust: "why should that be so?"
Mefistófeles: "Elas jazem além das fronteiras que as palavras podem nomear; E homens podem apenas compreender aqueles pensamentos que a linguagem pode expressar."Mephistopheles: "they lie outside the boundaries that words can address; and man can only grasp those thoughts which language can express."
Fausto: "O que? Quer dizer que palavras são ainda maiores que homens?"Faust: "what? Do you mean that words are greater yet than man?"
Mefistófeles: "De fato que são."Mephistopheles: "indeed they are."
Fausto: "Então e o desejo? Afeição, dor ou pesar? Não posso descrevê-los,  contudo sei que estão no meu peito. O que estes são?"Faust: "then what of longing. Wffection, pain or grief? I can't describe these, yet I know they are in my breast. what are they?""
Mefistófeles: "Sem substância, como a névoa."Mephistopheles: "without substance, as mist is."
Fausto: "Nesse caso homens são apenas ar, também!"Faust: "in that case man is only air as well!
