"Just drive" she said
there's no one I can call a friend
and I'm too tired too pretend
"I'm sick" she said
the same routine, collapse, defeat
the failures that I must defeat
her face that night
bathed in the glow
of dashboard lights
and on we drove
"it's hard" she said
I'm growing tired from fighting sleep
the memories just seem to creep
into my dreams
my sanctuary is displaced
by visions of my past disgrace
the skies raced past
as we drove by
somehow time lapsed
the changing skies
don't talk
just drive
