Happily Ever After
In days that have long since passed,
There lived a beautiful mahogany lass.
An unmarried and virtuous princess, alas,
She was brave, strong and bold.

One morning while riding no guard around,
Armed with sword should trouble abound,
She heard the most horrible sound,
And her nose burned of sulfur.
The sky it darkened, gave her horse a fright.
A dragon swooped as black as night,
Grabbed the princess then out of sight.
Her horse ran frightened home.
The king cried, "All knights be sworn!
Kill the dragon with your swords.
Return me daughter for this reward,
That you may marry her."
The bravest knight in all the realm,
Young, handsome and vain as well
Declared the maid his holy grail
And rode off to rescue her.
The knight he climbed up rugged heights
Snagged a run in his pristine tights
At cavern's shaft, he saw no lights
And heard no sound inside.
The knight called the dragon out.
But only a lady's voice came back.
"I killed the dragon!," the lady shout.
And stepped into the sun.
The princess dressed in scraps of cloth,
Her mahogany hair was all burned off.
A muddy face, the vain knight scoffed,
"Can you clean be for we go?"
The princess still in clothes undone,
Told the knight, "I work alone."
The knight rode lone into the setting sun.
And the princess was happy thereafter.
Feliz Para Sempre
Em dias que já se foram,
Vivia uma linda moça de mogno.
Uma princesa solteira e virtuosa, ai,
Ela era corajosa, forte e destemida.

Certa manhã, enquanto andava sem guarda,
Armada com espada, se o perigo chegasse,
Ela ouviu o som mais horrível,
E seu nariz ardia de enxofre.
O céu escureceu, assustou seu cavalo.
Um dragão desceu, negro como a noite,
Raptou a princesa e sumiu da vista.
Seu cavalo correu assustado pra casa.
O rei gritou: "Todos os cavaleiros, jurem!
Matem o dragão com suas espadas.
Tragam minha filha como recompensa,
Para que vocês possam se casar com ela."
O cavaleiro mais valente de todo o reino,
Jovem, bonito e vaidoso também
Declarou que a donzela era seu santo graal
E partiu para resgatá-la.
O cavaleiro subiu por alturas íngremes
Rasgou a meia em seu traje impecável
Na entrada da caverna, não viu luz
E não ouviu som algum lá dentro.
O cavaleiro chamou o dragão.
Mas só a voz de uma mulher respondeu.
"Eu matei o dragão!", gritou a moça.
E saiu para a luz do sol.
A princesa vestida com trapos,
Seu cabelo de mogno estava todo queimado.
Com o rosto sujo, o cavaleiro zombou,
"Você pode se limpar antes de irmos?"
A princesa, ainda com as roupas rasgadas,
Disse ao cavaleiro: "Eu trabalho sozinha."
O cavaleiro partiu sozinho para o sol poente.
E a princesa ficou feliz para sempre.
