Who lost his girl, due to his apathyWho lost his love, thru his indifference
A caring heart that remained unsharedA heart that cared that went unshared
Until it perished in his silenceUntil it died within his silence

And solitaire is the only game in this cityAnd solitaire is the only game in town
And every path he takes, leads him downAnd every road that takes him, takes him down
While life continues around him everywhereWhile life goes on around him everywhere
He's playing solitaireHe's playing solitaire

And keeping to himself, starts to dealAnd keeping to himself, begins to deal
And yet the king of hearts remains hiddenAnd still the king of hearts is well concealed
Another losing round comes to a closeAnother losing games comes to an end
And he deals them out againAnd deals them out again

A glimmer of hope vanishesA little hope goes up in smoke
