Shadow Self

The shadows they follow until they swallow you whole
Extinct the light and welcome the dark
Distinguish the shapes amongst the dark
I can barely see but I can feel the shadows calling to me
It’s like being isolated in a narrow room
Locked from inside no possibility to escape or move
All I can do is live with them and wait until I can be free again
There’s no way I can escape

Their whispers crawling down my neck
Tempting me to join the darkness
Trapped in my mind I can't escape
Facing a version of myself that I hate

All these dark thoughts led me to them
Tainted souls, leader of my inner hell
Dragging me to the gate
Leaning to temptation
Embracing my enemy
Their touch feel like blades
Stabbing through my flesh
Chained, I am now their prisoner

Without them so incomplete
And when they're gone I cannot be
Can no longer live in denial

No guilt no shame
Ready to give myself to the darkness

They're standing here looking down on me
Ready to drag me to a nightmare
Feeding from my sins using me as a vessel
The gate will open leading me to the ultimate crossing

The shadows and I will become one mighty being
Accepting the suffering will guide me to endless power
I'll paint my eyes with the falling ashes from the sky

Without them so incomplete

Evermore dream
In the darkness
Promises of peace if I cease to breath
Suspended from my own gallows
Specters of failures creep out from the black
Expose the shadow that I’ve become
The light needn’t seek me
I’ll suffocate alone in the gloom
