Oath to Myself

Every man is body, soul and spirit
Our holy dimensions
Pray, or even think, and God will hear it
Your path to ascension
Only blind belief will grant you heaven
Unquestionably
Why, then, did these questions set me free?

All at once
My whole world came
Crashing down
But it felt so
Liberating
Unconstraining
Where, one time
Fear resided
Stands my will
Independently
(Scrutinizing
Theorizing
All of this had
Been for nothing)

I had been lead astray
Trapped in my holy, gilded cage
Absentee golden key
Held in my hand
Who knew?

I've made an oath to me
Exercise judgment, act morally
I will guide my own light
Best as I can
All on
My own
