O Rei está bem perto;The King is very near;
Deixai de lado a dor e a tristeza,Away with grief and sorrow,
Pois eis que o vosso Socorro está aqui.For lo! your Help is here.
Vejam, em muitos lugares-Behold, in many a place-
O encontramos, nossa Salvação,We find Him, our Salvation,
Ó bendita consolação!O blessed consolation!
Nos Seus puros meios de graça.In His pure means of grace.

Levantai, aflitos de mais!Arise, ye much afflicted!
O Rei já não está longe;The King is now not far;
Alegrai-vos, há muito desanimados!Rejoice, ye long dejected!
Aqui vem a Estrela da Manhã.Here comes the Morning Star.
O Senhor vos dará alegria;The Lord will give you joy;
Embora as tribulações agora vos aflijam,Though troubles now distress you,
Com conforto Ele vos abençoará,With comfort He will bless you,
Até a morte Ele destruirá.E'en death He will destroy.

Agora ouçam, ousados transgressores,Now hear, ye bold transgressors,
O Rei presta atençãoThe King does well give heed
A tudo que estais fazendo,To all that ye are doing,
E à vida que levais,And to the life ye lead,
Cativados pelo pecado e pelo inferno;Enthralled to sin and hell;
Nada na criaçãoNothing in all creation
Escapa à Sua observaçãoEscapes His observation
Ele observa todas as coisas bem.He marketh all things well.

Sede justos, vós, Seus súditos,Be righteous, ye His subjects,
O Rei é justo e verdadeiro;The King is just and true;
Preparai-Lhe uma estrada,Prepare for Him a highway,
Tornai tudo reto e novo.Make all things straight and new.

Então suportemos nossas cruzesThen let us bear our crosses

O Rei provê para vós;The King provides for you;
Ele vem com socorro rápido,He comes with succor speedy,
Com misericórdia sempre nova.With mercy ever new.
Aquele que cuidou de uma bestaHe Who a beast did heed
Não deixará Seus filhos perecer;Lets not His children perish;
Todas as esperanças que o homem pode nutrirAll hopes that man may cherish
Ele pode cumprir de fato.He can fulfill indeed.

Ele nunca abandonaHe nevermore forsaketh
Uma criança que sente a vara,A child that feels the rod,
Aquele que faz Dele seu refúgio,Who Him his refuge maketh,
E confia em Deus.And puts his trust in God.
Ele é nosso Rei soberano;He is our sovereign King;

O Rei agora vem com poder,The King now comes with might,
Seu coração há muito nos ama,His heart hath long since loved us,
Ele transforma nossa escuridão em luz.He makes our darkness light.
Agora nossas tristezas acabaram;Now are our sorrows o'er;
Nenhuma ira nos atingirá,No wrath shall e'er befall us,
Desde que Deus, em graça, nos chamaSince God in grace doth call us
Seus filhos para sempre.His children evermore.

Apressai-vos, então, com passos ágeis,Haste then, with eager footsteps,
Para ver vosso Soberano lá!To see your Sovereign there!
Ele cavalga como Rei de Sião,He rides as King of Zion,
Forte, glorioso, manso e justo.Strong, glorious, meek and fair.
Aproximai-vos do Senhor e daiDraw near the Lord and give
A Ele a vossa saudação,To Him your salutation,
Aquele que traz grande salvação,Who bringeth great salvation,
E ordena ao pecador que viva.And bids the sinner live.

O Rei, em graça, se lembraThe King in grace remembers
De Seus amados aqui embaixoHis loved ones here below
Com presentes de tesouros reais,With gifts of royal treasures,
Sim, Ele mesmo concedeYea, doth Himself bestow
Através de Sua Palavra e graça.Through His blest Word and grace.
Ó Rei, adornado em esplendor,O King, arrayed in splendor,
A Ti toda a louvação renderemosTo Thee all praise we'll render
Aqui e ali, face a face.Here and there face to face.

Ó ricos os presentes que nos trazes,O rich the gifts Thou bring'st us,
Tu mesmo feito pobre e fraco;Thyself made poor and weak;
Ó Amor além da expressãoO Love beyond expression
Que assim pode buscar pecadores!That thus can sinners seek!
Por isso, ó Senhor, traremosFor this, O Lord, will we
Teu tributo alegre,Our joyous tribute bring Thee,
