Sand dances in harsh trances

Round the bases of acacia trees
Um brilho de aço queima baliza como
A steely glare burns beacon like
De dentro dos olhos do Butcherbird
From deep within the butcherbird's eyes
Enquanto um membro da tribo desliza despercebido
Whilst a tribesman glides unnoticed
Para o lugar onde o horizonte atende aos céus
To the place where the horizon meets the skies

As faíscas dentro da fogueira subir e morrer
The sparks within the campfire rise and die
Como willy arrepios rodam e uivo
As willy willies swirl and howl

E mulher popular se apegam amargamente de seus bebês
And woman folk cling grimly to their babies
Eles temem que algo está à espreita
They fear something's on the prowl

A bitter evil lurks in the parched bed

Of this so vast and ancient sea

A dark-skinned evil devil dog
Um navio para a licantropia
A vessel for lycanthropy

Dança Diabo invoca a areia
Devil dance invokes the sand
Os anciãos tensos com o medo
The elders tense with fear

The memories of their childhoods tell them
O cão irrinja logo aqui
The dog irrinja soon be here

Os ventos uivam feroz em direção a eles
The winds howl fierce toward them
Como diabos de poeira roubar o céu noturno de estrelas
As dust devils rob the night time sky of stars
O fogo é extinto e os escapes da tribo
The fire is extinguished and the tribe escapes
A caverna parece longe demais
The cave seems much too far
Os dingos se esconder em suas tocas
The dingoes cower in their lairs
Este grito ouvem não é de um deles
This cry they hear is not from one of them
Eles cheiram mal um bem distante das trevas
They smell a distant evil well of darkness
A partir de que em breve irá terror tronco
From which terror soon will stem

Vem a manhã, o vento passou
The morning comes, the wind has gone
E os espíritos dos jovens queridos levantá-los em música
And the young ones' spirits lift them into song
O sol queima quente e prepara a terra
The sun burns hot and bakes the land
Alheio ao que estava por baixo da areia
Oblivious to what lay beneath the sand

E esse dia traz muita alegria
And that day brings much rejoicing
Eles sentem o pior é feito
They feel the worst is done
Mas os anciãos tremer sombriamente
But the elders tremble grimly

As a silhouette flies from the sun

As horas passam e logo o céu fica escuro
Hours pass and soon the sky goes dark
O imóvel pássaro na árvore
The bird unmoving in the tree
O silêncio mortal provoca-los
The deathly silence taunts them
Até a luz do fogo é tudo o que ouvir e ver
'Til the firelight is all they hear and see
Sua respiração ainda paira em nuvens nebulosas
Their breath hangs still in misty clouds

A chill grips them so they cannot speak

Morning breaks the old man rubs his eyes

He peers around and sees the bleeding sands
O osso e tendões espalhados
The bone and sinew scattered
Os restos do seu querido clã partiu
Remnants of his dear departed clan

As moscas Butcherbird arrastando alguns intestino
The butcherbird flies trailing some intestine

From its sharp ungodly bill
E a cabeça de um bebê olha fixamente
And a baby's head stares blankly
A última testemunha de uma morte cruel e sangrenta
The last witness to a cruel and bloody kill
