Mormon's Lament
Now behold, my name is Mormon
Keeper of the Holy Word
And I make a sacred record
Of the things I've seen and heard
All my days were filled with sorrow
Yet I wrote by God's command
Standing as an idle witness
Of the evil in the land
Grievous scenes of thieves and robbers
Sorceries and magic art
Wickedness, abominations
Dwelt in every hardened heart
Awful scenes of blood and carnage
Have been laid before mine eyes
They were once a righteous people
