As folhas eram longas, a grama era verde
The leaves were long, the grass was green
A cicuta-umbelas alta e justa
The hemlock-umbels tall and fair
E na clareira uma luz foi vista
And in the glade a light was seen

Tinúviel was dancing there

To music of a pipe unseen
E a luz das estrelas estava no cabelo dela
And light of stars was in her hair
E em sua vestimenta brilhando
And in her raiment glimmering

Lá Beren veio de montanhas frias
There Beren came from mountains cold
E perdido ele vagou sob as folhas
And lost he wandered under leaves
E onde o rio élfico rolou
And where the Elven-river rolled
Ele andou sozinho e triste
He walked alone and sorrowing
Ele olhou entre as folhas de cicuta
He peered between the hemlock-leaves
E vi em maravilha flores de ouro
And saw in wonder flowers of gold
Sobre o manto e as mangas
Upon her mantle and her sleeves
E o cabelo dela como sombra seguindo
And her hair like shadow following

Encantamento curou seus pés cansados
Enchantment healed his weary feet

That over hills were doomed to roam
E adiante ele se apressou, forte e frota
And forth he hastened, strong and fleet

And grasped at moonbeams glistening

And one by one with sighing sound

And doom fell on Tinúviel
