Kirk's Deception
Captain Kirk once has told me,
Earth is the fairest planet in the universe.
He must have looked superficially,
and know earth only from out of space.
But then again Doctor McCoy once has told me,
that the most beautiful thing that he'd ever seen,
was a cluster of mortal cancer cells,
magnified a million times under his microscope.
Many people have told me,
love is the fairest thing in the universe.
They must have looked superficially,
and know love only from the screen.
But then again many others have told me,
that the most beautiful thing that they've ever seen,
was the look of their (and only their own) little child.
A Ilusão do Kirk
O Capitão Kirk uma vez me disse,
que a Terra é o planeta mais lindo do universo.
Ele deve ter olhado de forma superficial,
e conhecer a Terra só do espaço.
Mas então, o Dr. McCoy uma vez me disse,
que a coisa mais bonita que ele já viu,
foi um aglomerado de células cancerígenas,
magnificadas um milhão de vezes sob seu microscópio.
Muitas pessoas me disseram,
que o amor é a coisa mais linda do universo.
Elas devem ter olhado de forma superficial,
e conhecer o amor só pela tela.
Mas então, muitos outros me disseram,
que a coisa mais bonita que já viram,
foi o olhar de seu (e só seu) pequeno filho.
