Venham todos vocês, rapazes e moças, prestem atençãoCome all you lads and lasses, I'd have you give attention
A essas poucas linhas que vou escrever aqui,To these few lines I'm about to write here,
É das quatro estações do ano que vou falar,'Tis of the four seasons of the year that I shall mention,
A beleza de todas as coisas vai aparecer.The beauty of all things doth appear.
E agora que vocês são jovens e estão em sua prosperidade,And now you are young and all in your prosperity,
Animem seus corações e revivam como a primaveraCome cheer up your hearts and revive like the spring
Juntem-se em pares como os pássaros em fevereiroJoin off in pairs like the birds in February
Que o Dia de São Valentim traz consigo.That St. Valentine's Day it forth do bring.

Então vem a Primavera, que toda a terra nutre;Then cometh Spring, which all the land doth nourish;
Os campos começam a se enfeitar de verde,The fields are beginning to be decked with green,
As árvores brotam seus botões e as flores florescem,The trees put forth their buds and the blossoms they doflourish,
E as tenras lâminas de milho já podem ser vistas na terra.And the tender blades of corn on the earth are to be seen.
Não vêem os cordeirinhos brincando perto das mães?Don't you see the little lambs by the dams a-playing?
O cuco canta no bosque sombreado.The cuckoo is singing in the shady grove.
As flores estão brotando, as moças vão à festa de Maio,The flowers they are springing, the maids they go a-Maying,
Nos corações apaixonados tudo parece agora se mover.In love all hearts seem now to move.

Em seguida vem o Outono com o sol tão quente e cortante;Next cometh Autumn with the sun so hot and piercing;
O caçador sai com seu cachorro e sua espingardaThe sportsman goes forth with his dog and his gun
Para caçar a perdiz, o faisão e o codorna,To fetch down the woodcock, the partridge and the pheasant,
Para saúde e lucro, além da diversão.For health and for profit as well as for fun.
Vejam, com as macieiras carregadas, o fazendeiro é amigo,Behold, with loaded apple-trees the farmer is befriended,
Elas encherão seus barris que há muito estavam secos.They will fill up his casks that have long laid dry.
Toda a natureza parece cansada agora, sua tarefa está quase acabada,All nature seems to weary now, her task is nearly ended,
E mais estações virão, com o tempo.And more of the seasons will come by and by.

Quando a noite chega, com canções e histórias passamos as horas de inverno;When night comes on with song and tale we pass the wintryhours;
Mantendo um coração alegre, esperamos por dias melhores.By keeping up a cheerful heart we hope for better days.
Cuidamos do gado, semeamos a semente, damos trabalho aos lavradores,We tend the cattle, sow the seed, give work unto the ploughers,
Com paciência esperamos até que o inverno ceda diante dos raios do sol.With patience wait till winter yields before the sun's fairrays.
E assim o mundo gira e gira, e a cada tempo e estaçãoAnd so the world goes round and round, and every time andseason
Com prazer e lucro coroa a passagem do ano,With pleasure and with profit crowns the passage of the year,
E assim, em cada fase da vida, para quem age com razão,And so through every time of life, to him who acts with reason,
A beleza de todas as coisas vai aparecer.The beauty of all things doth appear.
