A teenage girl, a Nazarite

Who loves Yahweh and does what's right

Is visited by an angel

She's terrified, mystified

'Til he clarifies that he's here to prophecy

"Fear not, you are highly favored of God.

The Lord is with you."

Still Mary was greatly troubled by his words

And wondered what kind of greeting this might be

And he said, "Do not be afraid Mary,

For you have found favor with God.

You will be with child and will give birth to a son and you are to call His name Jesus.

He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High...

Mary replied, "How can these things be since I have not yet been with a man?"

The angel answered and said,

"The Holy Spirit shall come upon you,

And the power of the Most high shall overshadow you,

So the Holy One to be born will be called the Son of God.

Even Elisabeth, your relative, is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be barren is in her sixth month.

For nothing is impossible with God."

"I am the Lord's servant," Mary answered.

"May it be to me as you have said."

Then the angel was gone.

Uma adolescente, uma nazarena

Que ama Yahweh e faz o que é certo

Recebe a visita de um anjo

Ela fica apavorada, confusa

Até que ele explica que está ali para profetizar

"Não tenha medo, você é muito favorecida por Deus.

O Senhor está com você."

Ainda assim, Maria ficou muito perturbada com suas palavras

E se perguntou que tipo de saudação seria essa

E ele disse: "Não tenha medo, Maria,

Pois você encontrou favor diante de Deus.

Você ficará grávida e dará à luz um filho, e você deve chamá-lo de Jesus.

Ele será grande e será chamado Filho do Altíssimo...

Maria respondeu: "Como isso pode acontecer se eu ainda não estive com um homem?"

O anjo respondeu e disse:

"O Espírito Santo virá sobre você,

E o poder do Altíssimo te cobrirá,

Assim, o Santo que vai nascer será chamado Filho de Deus.

Até mesmo Isabel, sua parente, vai ter um filho na velhice, e ela que foi considerada estéril está no sexto mês.

Pois nada é impossível para Deus."

"Eu sou a serva do Senhor," respondeu Maria.

"Que aconteça comigo conforme você disse."

Então o anjo se foi.
