When was a boy
I had a book in my eye
A good head on my shoulders
But a thorn in my side
I had all figured out until I turned 16

I gathered my thoughts
And I walked out the door

I was full of dream
And sweet ketamine when I left

I didn't try anymore
I grew out my hair
And I lied to them all
I lived for the ups
But I'd die for the Iows

With a pen in my hand

Trying hard to understand why

I tried asking the stars
How they lived in the dark
They told me it's easy

I'm the boy that you thought you once knew
