E Deus disse, haja luzesAnd God said, let there be the lights
No firmamento do céuIn the firmament of the heaven

Haja luzes no céu para separar o dia da noiteLet there be lights in heaven to divide the day from the night
E que sejam para sinais, para as estações e para dias (e anos)And let them be for signs, for seasons and for days (and years)
E que sejam luzes no firmamentoAnd let then be for lights in the firmament
Para iluminar a terraTo give light upon the earth

E assim foi, e Deus fez duas, duas grandes luzesAnd it was so, and God made two, two great lights
A luz maior para governar o diaThe greater light to rule the day
E a luz menor para governar a noite, as estrelas tambémAnd the lesser light to rule the night, the stars as well
E Deus as colocou no firmamento para iluminar a terraAnd God set them in the firmament to give light upon the earth

E para governar, governar sobre o dia e sobre a noiteAnd to rule, to rule over the day and over the night
Para separar a escuridão da luzTo divide the darkness from the light
