Na penumbra da noite eu vaguei,In the veil of the night I wandered about,
na base de uma árvore algo brilhou.at the bole of a tree it did light.
A princípio pensei que era uma pedra, sem dúvida,I deemed it a stone at first glance, no doubt,
mas algo em mim foi atraído por seu brilho.something in me was lured by its sight.
Primeiro fraco e opaco, mas depois reluziuFirst feeble and dim but then it did shine
na sombra e nas cores do ouro.in the shade and the colours of gold.
Corri até lá, já não andava devagar,Thither I hurried, no longer I strolled,
pensei que era algo divino.methought it was something divine.
Apertei firme e agora eu vi,Firmly I grasped it and now I beheld,
nenhum tesouro alguém me deixou.no precious did someone bequeath.
Eu joguei longe e gritei desesperado...I tossed it from me and I terribly yelled...

É só um cemitério...It is just a burial site...

de onde aquela cabeça de morte cobria o chão -where that death's head did cover the ground -
mas o que eu vi! - insano e depravado,but what did I see! - unsound and depraved,
