At least that's what I think you said
But that's not really accurate now is it?
And if it is, does it even make a difference?
If I don't listen all the time then I might miss it
It's more than just a habit
And I don't get how you just casually dismiss it
And separate signal from the static

I turn my stereo on so I don't have to hear
I turn the volume way up until it hurts my ears
But it sounds exactly as I feared
The silence is loud and clear

Sometimes, I wish that I could stop you from talking
Sometimes, I wish that everyone would just shut up
But when it comes down to keeping me distracted
Too much is never enough
Look at us now, aren't we fabulously clever?
Don't we all just have such witty things to say?
Have you noticed how it all just blends together
And melts away?
