Impermanence

These days pass through my eyes
Like a needle towing wire through a dress
And the months go on alike
Like the sewn to a quilt that's uneven

I wish we could freeze our lives and just hover in our shrine
But our minds insist that we don't stay in one place by design

If I could stay here by your side
Maybe we could escape from time
But would we still feel alive?

These days insist on change
Like the Moon making tides on the beach
The waves will always smooth
Every rock, every footprint on the shore

I wish we could freeze our lives and just hover in our shrine
But if the suns and moons persist to move and shift around the sky
Then I think it's best we do the same
And just treasure these perfect nights
I think we'll be all right
