A week full of weekends ain't all there is to life
I still find there's quite a difference between a girl friend and a wife
Will she mind setting up all night with a baby daughter running a fever
Bathing her forhead hour after hour and praying by the morning it'll leave her
Will she know the right words for the grocier when her credits no good any more
And will she expect the times she'll feel like fourty when she knows she's only 24

Can she choose between new shoes for the kids and a payment for the bank

Ela saberá as palavras certas para o dono da mercearia quando seus créditos não servirem mais
E ela vai esperar as vezes em que se sentirá com quarenta anos quando souber que tem apenas 24

Ela ficará com você quando o aluguel vencer e não houver dinheiro entrando
E ela vai entender por não conseguir aquele vestido novo que ela esperava de Deus sabe quando
Ela pode escolher entre sapatos novos para as crianças e um pagamento para o banco
Ela fará todas essas coisas do jeito que eu fiz e esperará apenas amor, nunca mesmo agradecimento
