I See You Ahead

Why steal a taste when you know the severe chances,
of suffering much worse than just an allergic reaction?
Because you don't know something until you try
And you'll never find who you need
until you take attempt out of hiding
Why pick a rose by its thorn or petal
When you can firmly grasp it by the stem?
Because roots are much more fatal if wounded
A broken heart can eat you alive
If you knew the answers to these two questions
Maybe I'd still feel life
If we played this relationship backwards
My heart would come back
And I wouldn't have to walk around
with a knife protruding from my back
your touch feels of wolves nipping at my skin
but I know you must work on that look
because the fear from one glimpse makes my skin crawl
I wish I had my eyes moved to the back of my head
So that I could look back on what we have
Instead of looking forward at the oncoming guillotine
