Soothsayer

Where is that which I sought?

Palms raised to the clouds above, hanging fat with manna
Low Sun in platinum haze, glittering on the sand
Gnashed teeth, a recitation of delicate spells unfolds
Tears swirl
Towards a whisper
Echoing
Forever

Vague, grey prayers, like needles break my skin
Strange visions pulse in waves
Soothsayers sing in this house of sand

Their litany seduces me

A chorus of everything

I feel golden waves crashing over me
The velvet heavens droning rhythmically
I see portals breathing but still empty
Singing of an end that seems unending

And to these dreams I cling desperately
Weakly
Prophetically
So convinced that they are memory
We are never free
Defined by time and elegy
By sonnets dripping in faith and ecstasy
And never any truth or clarity

And so I'll sing in reverie
A soothsayer harmonising entropy
Oh, I will sing in reverie
I'll burn affably
To forget
That there is nothing left of me

At least I'll remember the knives of light
Spilling violet fire from the belly of the Sun
That sets on me
