You were young enough to think I was invincible
And brave enough
To think that you were too
You were on the rooftop
Singing all your favorite songs
Making up the words
And I was so amazed by you

Oh, my wildchild you were born
You hit the ground running
I haven't seen you in a while
But I always saw this coming
Don't let a cruel world take your light away
Just promise me you're gonna stay
Wildchild, ooh, wildchild

You were learning how to skate
In empty swimming pools
And laughing till the neighbors called the cops
You were always getting up to something
Never changed that tune you hummed
And everybody knew that song
They just grew up and forgot

Wildchild you were born
You hit the ground running
I haven't seen you in a while
But I always saw this coming
Don't let a cruel world take your light away
Just promise me you're gonna stay
Wildchild

Say you're gonna stay, young
(Don’t let ‘em steal your peace)
Say you're gonna stay free
(Don’t let ‘em steal your peace)
Looking at you, looking at me
Say I'm always gonna be
My wild, wild, wildchild

Are you having fun, Alex?
He's a tough kid
You're a tough kid, you know that?
