I slave at my job just to have the means
To survive while I’m fulfilling other peoples’ dreams
I’m sick and tired of being mistreated and ignored
Because the world is filled with things that I just can’t afford

And I know, I know this too shall pass
But I don’t know how much longer I’m gonna last
When I’m broke and broken down every single day
And I don’t know how much longer it’s gonna to be this way

The harder I work I’m no further ahead
Because every single extra cent goes towards my debts
They say the best things in life come for free
But whoever say that wasn’t slave to this economy

And I know, I know this too shall pass
But I don’t know how much longer I’m gonna last

I go to bed each night feeling beat
And I lie away thinking about how to make ends meet
I just don’t understand why so few have so much
While the rest of us suffer just to have enough

And I’ve tried to find an open door
But I’m stuck in this system destined to be poor
I know that I’m not the only one

Though life’s hard what else can I do
Besides hold fast to my dreams and hope that they come true?
God knows how we’ll make it on this pay
But we’ve just gotta stand strong and gotta keep believing anyway
