Beyond Faith

In the silence, I kneel to pray
Following the paths they taught me to stay
Voices echo, songs fill the air
Faith is strong, it made me care

But deep inside my heart
I feel a doubt, a restless part

I pray, I follow, trying to believe
But something inside wants to be free
The prayers hold me, won't let me fly
And now I see, this isn't my sky
Does faith truly strengthen me, or just bind my mind?

I learned to smile and keep my voice low
Applauding what I could never show
Sweet words hiding the pain I felt
In the mirror, my true self I couldn't tell

My heart begins to question inside
Was all of this meant to hide my light?

I pray, I follow, trying to find

Sweet words, advice wrapped in lies
Chains that forced me to compromise
