The light in the kitchen is blue
And it makes everything come true
I wash my hands in the sink
Like they don't belong to me
There is a fly in the window frame
It keeps hitting the same place
I don't help it get out
I just listen to the sound

You said you'd come by at night
I check the clock all the time
But time doesn't move here right
It bends in the blue light
I open and close the fridge
Just to feel something shift
Cold air on my face
Like a small kind of grace

I don't think about you
Not the way I used to
Just your shoes by the door
That aren't there anymore
The light hums overhead
I sleep here instead
On the kitchen floor
Where you stood before

And the fly finally stops
I don't notice when it drops
I just turn off the light
And disappear for the night
