Agreeing to Disagree

She wore her faith deep in her chest
He saw the world as a checkmate quest
She found grace in every sign
He saw doubt in every line
Two sharp minds like guiding lights
Two brave hearts that knew their rights
One said amen, the other perhaps
Yet both knew when to let words lapse

And when the air would start to heat
A joke would come, a coffee break
They laughed at all the gravity
Like those who know what faith can be

Agreeing to disagree

Each belief, and unbelief
Fit in the same space, past the grief
No wounds in the debate
Two truths they’d navigate
And at the altar of friendship
They chose to celebrate

They built a bridge to something more
He’d say, it’s all just made-up things
She’d smile, that’s where hope begins
And when the talk would start to strain
They’d play like kids in Sun and rain

She’d joke, you’ll burn in hell, you know
He’d grin, from laughing hard, for sure
But deep inside, they both could tell
How good it feels to be unsure

Stronger than wrong or right
They simply called it: Insight
