Lonesome Road

Drivin' down this lonesome road
Burdened by a heavy load
Sand and asphalt are my friends
Until this journey's at an end

It's roadkill for my morning meal
Birds of prey are at my heels
Whiskey when I take my break
Huffin' catnip to stay awake

When my day comes to an end
And the night is on the rise
I bed me down just 'round that bend
To sleep and rest my weary eyes

Windswept and free
Bein' who I wanna be
Dazzled by the desert sand
Wanderin' all about the land

Seekin' high and seekin' low
My nose tells me where to go
A belly full will make me feel
That I'm a cool cat at the wheel

The taste of blood is in my mouth
And the road is in my bones
Rollin' east, west, north, and south
I'm a cat who prowls alone

Breaker, breaker, one nine
Come on back on the city line
Can someone tell me where to find
Something to ease my worried mind?
