We walk through halls we did not build
Living out another's will
Ancient footprints mark the ground
Silent lessons handed down

Every stone contains a scar
Every wound has traveled far
What was planted long ago
Still decides what we will know

Names are written in the dust
Covered over by the rust
Yet their shadows linger on
Long after the voices are gone

Broken altars, shattered vows
No one remembers why or how
Only fragments still remain
Passed from hand to hand again

Inherited dreams

The weight of forgotten years
Carried forward
Line by line
A burden hidden inside time

Some were builders, some deceived
Some believed what they received
Some refused to see the cost
Of the things that had been lost

Now the silence starts to break
Beneath the cracks beneath the ache
A distant echo calls once more
From behind a sealed door

History sleeps but never dies
Waiting underneath the lies
What was buried will return
When the time has come to learn
