Imaginary Stairs

A dream about two people hand in hand
Wandering through some wonderland
Two sets of footprints in the sand
One single destination
Stepping up into the air
On imaginary stairs
Unconcerned and unaware
The only universe was theirs

The best of lovers, best of friends
Life along a masterplan
Sailors joining the crew
Voyaging the open blue
Slightly off course through haste
Life ain't some kind of race
Might as well sit down and face
Should seize the days at their own pace

Expectations, Speculations
Why not live along the tides
Jumping fences, taking chances
Turn our backs to the night

We got time at our side

But both of us had to be strong
To guide the other one along

To realise it makes no sense
To speak in terms of masterplans

What has to come remains a blur
What has to happen will occur

So here we're walking hand in hand
In our self-made wonderland
A one-thousand-and-one-night-stand
A band not meant to ever end
No need to walk into the air
On these imaginary stairs
We keep our feet down on the ground
And live each day that comes around
